What We’ve Accomplished Together

In just one term, we’ve delivered record improvements across District 7:

  • Traffic calming, with improved pedestrian- and bike-friendly infrastructure

  • Enhanced parks and green stormwater projects

  • Public safety upgrades, community art, and revitalized alleys

  • And so much more, thanks to your input and collaboration

On citywide issues, I’ve led with purpose and persistence:

  • Housing & Tenant Rights: More affordable housing, protections for renters, and cooling requirements for rental units

  • Homelessness: Funding the Gateway System and transitional housing, including the new Youth Gateway Center in D7

  • Opioid Crisis: Spearheading a joint city-county plan to use settlement funds for prevention and treatment

  • Climate Action: Planting trees, defending the Air Quality Board, and boosting energy efficiency—critical work as national policies threaten environmental progress

  • Animal Welfare: Championing stronger wildlife protections, more resources for animal shelters, and building new dog parks in our district

I’ve stood firm against attempts to roll back minimum wage increases, dissolve immigrant protections, and weaken our democracy. And I’ve done it by staying connected—attending hundreds of community meetings and talking with thousands of you about issues that matter to you.

What Comes Next: Our Vision for a Stronger District 7

Based on what I’ve heard from you, here’s where we go next:

  • Lower Costs for Albuquerque Residents: Make housing more affordable, fight price-gouging, and create more pathways to higher-wage jobs

  • Improve Public Safety: Expand the Community Safety Department, maintain full funding for police and fire, and support addiction prevention and recovery

  • Protect Albuquerque's Values: Stand strong against federal overreach that threatens our immigrant-friendly policies, our diversity, and our democracy

  • Lead on Climate: Invest in climate resilience, electrify city buildings and fleets, and reduce energy costs for families

  • Animal Protection: Expand spay/neuter programs, increase pollinator habitat, and advocate for humane treatment of all animals
